Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Application Details
The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship, commonly referred to as the Pearson Scholarship, is a highly competitive and prestigious scholarship program awarded by the University of Toronto in Canada. Named after the late Lester B. Pearson, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former Canadian Prime Minister, the scholarship program was established in 2008 to recognize and support outstanding international students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, leadership skills, and commitment to community service.
The scholarship program offers a fully-funded undergraduate education at the University of Toronto, one of Canada’s top-ranked universities and a globally recognized institution for academic excellence and research. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition, books, incidental fees, and provides a living allowance for the duration of the program, which is four years. In addition to financial support, the Pearson Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in a vibrant academic and social community, gain valuable leadership skills, and become part of a diverse network of scholars and professionals.
The Pearson Scholarship program is highly selective and competitive, with only a few students chosen each year from a pool of thousands of applicants from around the world. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be international students who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and who are currently enrolled in their final year of secondary school or have graduated within the last two years. They must also demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, leadership skills, and commitment to community service.
Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Requirements
The academic requirements for the scholarship are rigorous, with applicants required to have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of A- (or equivalent) in their last two years of study. They must also demonstrate proficiency in English by providing standardized test scores such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
The leadership and community service criteria for the scholarship are equally important, with applicants expected to demonstrate a strong record of leadership and community service in their school or community. They must provide evidence of their involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or other initiatives that have had a positive impact on their community.
