The Department of Cape Town Baptist Seminary Basic Education has now released the proposed calendar for the 2024 Academic year. The 2024 Academic year will be made up of 43 weeks.

This Academic calendar only applies to all public Academics throughout the country.
Public Comment invited on Proposed 2024 Academic Calendar for Public Academics
According to the calendar, learners will have a total of 199 days of Academic attendance, making the Academic year consist of 43 weeks.
Learners are set to start their academic year from 17 January and the year will then run until 13 December. Terms are arranged as follows:
- Term 1: 17 January to 27 March
- Term 2: 9 April to 28 June
- Term 3: 23 July to 4 October
- Term 4: 15 October to 13 December
For the 2023 Academic year, from inland provinces are set to start their academic year from 11 January to 13 December and 18 January to 13 December for learners in coastal provinces.
The 2023 Academic year will be made up of 199 Academic days and consist of 43 weeks.

- Third Term 19 July – 30 September
- Fourth Term 11 October – 14 December
Term dates for Coastal Cluster Academics:
- First Term 19 January – 25 March

- Third Term 19 July – 30 September
- Fourth Term 11 October – 14 December
Consequently, all Academics’ academic years will conclude on 14 December 2024.
